Svetlina Stoyanova is a celebrated Bulgarian mezzo-soprano renowned for her expressive artistry, radiant voice, and captivating stage presence. Born in Sofia, Bulgaria, she began her musical journey as a soloist with the Children’s Choir of the Bulgarian National Radio, performing for nine years and laying the foundation for her future career.

Initially pursuing psychology at the University of Glasgow, Stoyanova ultimately followed her passion for music, enrolling at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland under the tutelage of Clare Shearer. She earned a Bachelor's degree with honors and continued with two Master's degrees in Vocal Performance and Opera, performing roles such as Nerone (Agrippina), the Mother (Mavra), and Veronique (Le Docteur Miracle).

Her international breakthrough came in 2016 when she won third prize at Le Grand Prix de l’Opera in Bucharest, ranking as the highest-placed female singer. In 2017, she secured first prize at the prestigious Neue Stimmen International Singing Competition, leading to engagements at major European opera houses.

Stoyanova made early professional debuts as Cherubino (Le nozze di Figaro) at Opéra de Nice Côte d’Azur and Rosina (Il barbiere di Siviglia) at the Bregenz Festival. She then joined the ensemble of the Vienna State Opera for the 2018/19 and 2019/20 seasons, performing roles such as Dryade (Ariadne auf Naxos), Rosina (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Cherubino (Le nozze di Figaro), Roßweiße (Die Walküre), and Lola (Cavalleria Rusticana).

Since then, she has performed at leading opera houses, including Teatro alla Scala, the Bolshoi Theatre, Hamburg State Opera, Zurich Opera, Deutsche Oper am Rhein, and the Glyndebourne Festival. Her repertoire embraces key mezzo-soprano roles such as Angelina (La Cenerentola), Isabella (L’Italiana in Algeri), Stéphano (Roméo et Juliette), Zerlina (Don Giovanni), Tisbe (La Cenerentola), and Wellgunde (Das Rheingold).

In addition to her operatic work, Stoyanova is a sought-after concert soloist and recitalist, appearing at prestigious venues including the Musikverein in Vienna, Wigmore Hall in London, and the International Festival Sofia Music Weeks. Recently, she performed a recital at Kioi Hall in Tokyo with Maestro Sascha Goetzel. Her concert repertoire includes major works such as Elgar’s The Dream of Gerontius, Vivaldi’s Gloria, Beethoven’s Mass in C Major, Mahler’s Symphony No. 4, and Dvořák’s Mass in D Major, performed at the opening ceremony of the 2018 Bregenz Festival.

Her artistic contributions have been recognized with several honors, including a place in Forbes Bulgaria’s "30 Under 30" list in 2019, the Daniel Froschauer Award, The Silver Medal of the Worshipful Company of Musicians, and a certificate from the Bulgarian Ministry of Culture for her role in promoting Bulgarian culture internationally.

Looking ahead, Stoyanova is set to perform Hansel (Hänsel und Gretel) at Opernhaus Zürich and will make her highly anticipated debut at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden as Cherubino (Le nozze di Figaro).
